This Needle Point piece is a compact study in pastoral narrative, worked in wool on a soft cream ground. A central medallion contains two strolling figures, two hounds and a low, rolling landscape framed by a garland of blossoms. The hand of time has softened the palette and introduced gentle abrash across the field; edges show fraying consistent with medium use. The needlework retains a tactile, stitched surface that reads like miniature tapestry. As an antique rug it speaks to a decorative tradition of refined, small-scale embroidery. Circa 1850 - 1865.
