This Needle Point antique rug measures 1' 9" x 1' 9" and presents a finely worked floral composition on an ivory ground. A central medallion anchors the design, while scalloped outlines, vine scrolls, and small blossoms radiate outward in coral red, olive green, soft gold, and rose. The border is narrow and restrained, allowing the open field to carry the pattern with clarity. Circa 1850 - 1865, the wool surface shows low distress and a softened, lived-in character that lends the piece quiet depth and tactility. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
