This Tapestry measures 15' 10" x 8' 0", a large wool panel that reads like a painted landscape in restrained neutrals and browned creams. A chinoiserie tableau of pagoda, peacocks, waterfowl and layered foliage unfolds across a softly faded field. Surface abrash and areas of medium wear have mellowed the palette and given the textile a tactile, timeworn patina. The floral border keeps its sculptural outline while the centre shows gentle losses and consolidated edges. As an antique rug the piece balances decorative narrative and domestic use, its material presence shaped by sustained handling and considered repair. Circa 1850 - 1870
