An energetic Khotan in a well-preserved, low-distress state, this antique rug measures 4' 0" x 8' 9" and reads as tactile and deliberate. Large neutral oval medallions punctuate a warm red field, framed by pale cream guard borders and a serrated golden-amber outer band. The wool pile retains a soft, lived-in nap with subtle abrash that heightens the color transitions; motifs include central medallions, small rosettes and angular corner keys. Saturated red and sunlit gold are held in calm proportion, edges are tidy and gently worn, suggesting careful use and conservation. Circa 1900 - 1930
