This Mallayer runner reads as a finely considered, elongated composition: a restrained medallion chain dissolves into a repeating geometric lattice across a narrow field. Woven in wool, the neutral, brown, cream and white palette has softened with age to a sun-washed, tactile surface. The 3' 2" x 16' 6" scale emphasises the vertical rhythm while narrow guard borders hold the design. Surface abrasion and even abrash lend a muted patina and gentle pile attenuation that reveal steady use. An antique rug with quiet architectural presence, Circa 1895 - 1910.
