This Mallayer presents a long, elegant field of repeating boteh and floral motifs punctuated by three linked medallions. Woven in wool, the ivory ground, warm red medallions and gold accents read with fine tonal nuance and restrained patina. The piece retains low distress and a lively surface texture that speaks to handwork and age without heavy loss. Circa 1885 - 1900. The material presence and refined patterning make this an antique rug with a quietly sophisticated, tactile character , a study in scale, repeat and the warmth of natural dyes across a generously proportioned runner (6' 7" x 15' 10").
