This Mallayer antique rug in wool measures 6' 5" x 13' 5" and carries a quiet, time-worn presence. The field is woven with an allover lattice of curving motifs, softened by layered fading that lets the brown, cream, and white palette settle into a calm, tonal surface. Narrow borders and a vine-floral outer frame give the composition structure without interrupting its aged rhythm. Circa 1880 - 1900, it shows medium distress that deepens the sense of depth and wear, while still preserving the integrity of the design language.
