This Savonnerie antique rug measures 14' 0" x 16' 9" and carries the layered elegance of a formal French composition. A dark field frames a luminous center, where a circular medallion, floral garlands, and scrolling leaves unfold in cream, gold, blush, and soft blue. The border adds rhythm with palmettes and stylised ornament, balancing the more intricate interior. Medium distress softens the palette and gives the surface a gentle, timeworn character. Circa 1880 - 1900, it reads as refined and atmospheric, with wool lending warmth and a tactile, collected presence.
