This Kysari antique rug measures 12' 3" x 16' 4" and reads with a hushed, time-softened presence. Woven in silk, its field opens around a faded central medallion, with traces of border work and floral ornament lingering beneath layers of gold, cream, white, and pale rose. The surface has been heavily distressed, which gives the design its atmospheric depth and a nearly washed fresco effect. Circa 1850 - 1865, it carries the quiet elegance and visual restraint that define the most collectible antique rug forms from the Kysari tradition. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
