This Mallayer antique rug measures 5' 6" x 16' 2" and carries a long, attenuated presence with a softly worn field of geometric medallions and tribal border detail. The wool surface has mellowed into layered brown, cream, and neutral tones, with the pattern partially dissolved by age to create a quiet, painterly depth. Circa 1900 - 1925, it reflects the lived-in character of an antique rug while preserving the rhythm of its original composition.
