This Kysari antique rug, 4' 2" x 5' 10", is rendered in silk with a soft, timeworn palette of cream, sand, and faded red. The composition balances a tall central field with a mihrab-like outline, delicate floral ornament, and layered borders that carry repeating medallions and vines. Wear has gently muted the contrasts, giving the surface a quiet, luminous finish. Circa 1850 - 1870, it reads as refined and restrained, with enough detail remaining to reveal the structure of its original pattern language while preserving the softness that comes with age.
