This Mallayer antique rug measures 6' 10" x 16' 5" and presents a long, elegant field of layered ornament in wool. A deep teal ground supports dense floral motifs, while a large stepped medallion in cream and sand anchors the composition with quiet symmetry. The border reads in warm tan and ivory, giving the whole piece a softened, timeworn balance. Medium distress brings out the abrash and fading across the field, adding depth to its surface. Circa 1905 - 1920, it carries the restrained complexity and faded clarity that define a well-aged Mallayer.
