This Mallayer antique rug in wool measures 5' 4" x 10' 2" and carries a quiet, time-softened presence. The field is layered with floral-geometric detail, framed by multiple borders that still hold traces of terracotta, dusty rose, and charcoal against an ivory ground. Wear has muted the pattern into a tonal, atmospheric surface, with visible fading that adds depth rather than distraction. Circa 1880 - 1895, it reflects the restrained elegance and ornamented rhythm associated with Mallayer weaving, while its medium distress gives the piece an especially lived-in character.
