This Mallayer antique rug measures 6' 4" x 12' 6" and presents a finely balanced allover lattice of small floral forms, held within a narrow border of scrolling ornament. The palette is softened by age, moving through rose red, rust, brown, ivory, sage, and traces of pale teal, with the pattern gently muted by visible wear. Medium distress gives the field a lived-in, timeworn surface that still reads clearly in composition. Circa 1900 - 1915, it carries the quiet discipline and layered character associated with Mallayer weaving. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
