This Mallayer antique rug measures 5' 4" x 11' 2" and reads with a long, weathered presence in wool. Its field has been reduced to a pale, layered surface where the original medallion and floral detail emerge and dissolve through time, while the border still holds onto traces of sage, teal, rust, and brown. The overall effect is soft, restrained, and quietly architectural. Circa 1925 - 1965, this piece carries the look of a rug that has aged fully into itself, with high distress that lends depth, texture, and atmosphere.
