This Tabriz antique rug measures 11' 2" x 18' 3" and reads with a hushed, time-softened elegance. The wool field settles into faded indigo blue and ivory, with taupe, sage, and grey tones woven into an allover arabesque of scrolling roundels and floral tracery. A border of boteh-like forms frames the composition, now gently blurred by age and use. High distress has muted the contrast and worn away portions of the drawing, leaving a layered, atmospheric surface. Circa 1880 - 1910. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
