This Mallayer antique rug measures 10' 5" x 19' 10" and is woven in wool with a restrained, time-softened palette of indigo, ivory, taupe, sage, rust, and pale blue. A large central medallion anchors the field, where layered floral ornament dissolves into an allover lattice of fine pattern and gentle abrasion. The border introduces rosettes and angular palmettes, giving the composition a structured edge against the more faded interior. Circa 1900 - 1930, it carries the quiet depth and patina that define an aged Mallayer, with medium wear that enhances its softly weathered character.
