This Mallayer antique rug measures 14' 0" x 17' 11" and presents a grounded, time-softened composition in wool. The saturated blue field is animated by scrolling floral vines, palmettes, boteh, and finely dispersed rosettes, all enclosed by a layered border that lends structure without heaviness. Cream, white, muted rose, and taupe details temper the field’s brightness, while visible wear adds a worn-in luminosity and tactile depth. Circa 1910 - 1930, it reflects the balance and ornament often associated with a classic Mallayer, translated here with an especially open, atmospheric presence.
