This Mallayer antique rug measures 11' 7" x 16' 7" and carries a quietly layered field of small floral forms softened by age. Woven in wool, it balances an allover lattice with a formal border of scrolling motifs and a faint central medallion that emerges through the wear. The palette settles into ivory, taupe, warm brown, charcoal, and muted gold, with broad bands of fading that lend depth rather than uniformity. Circa 1920 - 1935, it reflects the refined ornament and lived-in surface that make Mallayer pieces so compelling. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
