This Mallayer antique rug measures 10' 2" x 14' 5" and carries a layered, timeworn presence in wool. A dark central field supports a rhythmic field of oval medallions on slender stems, set within coral corner spandrels and a finely bordered frame. The palette balances charcoal, ivory, taupe, and faded sage with warm coral accents, creating a softly weathered contrast. Medium distress lends the surface a lived-in depth and a muted, atmospheric finish. Circa 1900 - 1915, it reflects the enduring graphic language associated with Mallayer weaving. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
