This Mallayer antique rug, measuring 9' 2" x 11' 7", presents a richly worn field of geometric medallions, floral inflections, and layered borders in rust, cream, brown, and muted blue. The wool surface carries a softened hand and a lived-in patina, with fading that allows the structure of the design to read through in an atmospheric way. Corners and borders remain legible even as the centre shows marked wear. Circa 1915 - 1930, it holds the kind of balanced imperfection that gives a room visual depth and quiet character.
