This Mallayer antique rug measures 5' 5" x 12' 10" and shows the long, refined proportions associated with the type. A layered ivory field holds a tall stepped medallion in indigo blue, rust, and muted rose, while the borders carry fine repeating florals and vine work. The surface is deeply worn, with broad abrasion that softens the drawing and lifts the lighter ground into a calm, timeworn glow. Circa 1880 - 1895, the composition feels balanced, restrained, and quietly intricate, with the wool revealing both age and a still-structured decorative rhythm.
