This Mallayer antique rug measures 3' 3" x 16' 4" and presents a long, textural field of repeating geometric star-flower motifs in brown, cream, red, and muted blue accents. The composition is lively yet disciplined, with intermittent bands of deeper colour that interrupt the neutral ground and draw the eye through the length of the piece. A narrow floral border frames the design with quiet definition. Woven in wool, it shows low distress and a softened surface that speaks to age without diminishing clarity. Circa 1885 - 1900, it carries a grounded, timeworn presence.
