This Mallayer antique rug measures 2' 8" x 12' 9" and carries a long, graceful field of indigo blue set against cream and faded gold tones. A lattice of angular vines and small floral details runs through the centre, while narrow floral borders hold the composition with quiet balance. The surface shows medium distress, with softened contrast, areas of abrash, and worn edges that add to its timeworn character. Circa 1900 - 1915, it reads as layered and restrained, with a weathered palette that keeps the drawing visible without losing its sense of age.
