This Mallayer antique rug, measuring 4' 9" x 8' 9", presents a restrained palette of brown, cream, white, and muted colour shifts that soften the geometry into a quiet, lived-in surface. The long field is filled with an allover lattice of small repeating motifs, enclosed by a structured border of floral and angular details. Wear is visible throughout, with fading, abrash, and edge character that lend depth to the wool pile. Circa 1890 - 1905, it carries the grounded balance and layered ornament associated with a well-aged Mallayer. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
