This Mallayer antique rug measures 4' 0" x 6' 4" and presents a softly aged field of repeating boteh-like motifs within layered floral borders. Woven in wool, it balances neutral, cream, and brown grounds with restrained notes of coral and muted blue, creating a quiet but articulated surface. The drawing is gentler from age and wear, with visible fading that has flattened some contrast while deepening the rug's patina. Circa 1880 - 1895, it carries the measured rhythm and timeworn elegance associated with classic Mallayer weaving. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
