This Mallayer antique rug measures 6' 7" x 12' 4" and carries a quiet, timeworn presence in wool. The composition is grounded in layered borders and an allover field of softened geometric and floral motifs, now reduced to a restrained study of ivory, cream, and warm beige. Areas of heavy wear have blurred the drawing and opened the surface, creating a beautifully aged, textural finish. The result feels balanced and architectural, with a calm rhythm that still reveals the original ornament. Circa 1900 - 1920. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
