This Mallayer antique rug measures 11' 5" x 23' 8" and carries a saturated, time-softened field of deep blue, teal, cream, and muted rose. An all-over floral lattice settles around a restrained central medallion, while corner spandrels and a narrow floral border frame the composition with delicacy. The wool surface shows medium distress, with broad fading and visible wear that lend the design a layered, atmospheric depth. Circa 1885 - 1900, it feels both architectural and intimate, with the kind of surface variation that gives antique rugs their quiet resonance.
