This Mallayer antique rug measures 10' 8" x 13' 4" and presents a finely aged field of compact geometric repetition framed by floral borders. The palette settles into neutral beige, brown, cream, and traces of faded blue and rust, creating a restrained, timeworn surface with quiet depth. A broad lozenge-shaped centre softens the composition, while the surrounding border keeps the design grounded and architectural. Medium wear has mellowed the contrast and given the wool a lived-in, tactile presence. Circa 1885 - 1900, it carries the calm density and layered elegance often sought in a Mallayer.
