This Mallayer antique rug measures 4' 10" x 9' 7" and presents a layered, timeworn field of geometric latticework softened by age. The neutral, brown, and gold palette is lifted by muted blue-grey accents, giving the composition a quiet depth. A stepped lozenge medallion structure anchors the centre, while narrow borders of floral and angular detail frame the piece with restraint. The wool surface shows medium distress, with visible fading and wear that lend character without overwhelming the design. Circa 1885 - 1900, it carries the settled presence of a well-loved antique rug.
