This Mallayer antique rug measures 7' 1" x 19' 8", with a long, narrow format and a quietly structured field softened by age. The design opens into a repeating scalloped lattice, framed by a floral border and fine guard lines that keep the composition disciplined even as the surface has mellowed. Weathered blue, ivory, taupe, and grey tones drift across the wool, creating a layered, almost atmospheric effect. Circa 1915 - 1930, it carries the patina and softness that come from careful wear, with enough remaining detail to preserve the rug's original rhythm.
