This Mallayer antique rug measures 3' 5" x 13' 8" and presents a long, elegantly proportioned field with a repeated boteh-like lattice softened by age. Wool woven in neutral tones of beige and brown is lifted by muted green and traces of faded blue-grey, while the border settles into a fine geometric vine rhythm. The surface shows medium distress, with areas of abrasion and gentle colour loss that temper the pattern without obscuring it. Circa 1885 - 1900, it carries the quiet complexity and weathered balance associated with a well-kept room-size runner in the Mallayer tradition.
