This Mallayer antique rug measures 3' 9" x 16' 6" and presents a long, narrow format with a deeply worn, time-softened surface. The wool field holds an elongated floral medallion arrangement, surrounded by scrolling forms and small rosette details that fade in and out of the brown ground. A wide outer border in cream, taupe, and muted blue frames the composition with steady rhythm. The abrash-like colour variation and softened contrasts give the piece a quietly layered character. Circa 1900 - 1920, it feels grounded, restrained, and richly aged. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
