This Mallayer antique rug measures 3' 3" x 12' 9" and carries a long, restrained profile with a densely worked field of geometric rosettes, diamonds, and small floral forms. The wool pile shows a grounded brown and neutral palette, lifted by cream, white, and touches of muted colour in the border. Its surface has softened with age, allowing the motifs to blur and settle into one another in a quietly layered way. Circa 1915 - 1940, it reflects the measured rhythm and decorative balance associated with Mallayer weaving, with medium distress that lends texture and depth.
