This Mallayer antique rug measures 4' 1" x 5' 10", and presents a layered field of geometric medallions, diagonal banding, and a floral border that feels both structured and timeworn. Wool in blue, cream, white, and muted red tones has mellowed into a softly faded palette, with the surface showing medium wear and a well-aged patina. The stepped medallion at centre gives the composition its rhythm, while the border carries a quieter, more delicate register. Circa 1900 - 1915, it holds the visual character of a rug shaped by use and light.
