This Mallayer antique rug measures 7' 10" x 16' 9" and presents a long, structured field softened by time. A repeating geometric lattice, recalling medallion forms, sits within a finely detailed border, while the palette of brown, taupe, ivory, muted navy, and subdued red has drifted into a mellow, grounded register. Visible abrasion and faded passages create a weathered surface that feels quietly layered rather than flat. Circa 1910 - 1930, it carries the restrained complexity and lived-in character associated with a well-aged Mallayer. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
