This Mallayer antique rug measures 10' 2" x 19' 2" and presents a layered field of small geometric blossoms, stepped medallion outlines, and finely worked borders. The palette moves through neutral brown, white, cream, and a muted blue-green cast, creating a quietly weathered surface with depth and balance. Broad areas of fading and abrasion soften the drawing, while the outer bands retain a trace of structure and rhythm. Circa 1900 - 1920, it carries the mellowed character that gives a room its sense of age and continuity, without losing the clarity of its design language.
