This Mallayer antique rug, measuring 3' 6" x 15' 9", carries a long, narrow field in faded aqua and cream, threaded with brown and muted rust ornament. Its allover floral lattice is loosened by age, giving the pattern a soft, atmospheric rhythm, while the narrow border keeps the composition clearly framed. The surface shows low distress and an even, lived-in patina that tempers the detail without dulling it. Circa 1910 - 1925, it reads with the calm restraint and decorative density associated with the Mallayer tradition. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
