This Mallayer antique rug measures 3' 3" x 19' 7" and reads with an elongated, time-softened presence. An intricate allover floral field unfolds in muted red, cream, and white, held by a narrow border of repeating blossoms and small geometric details. The composition remains legible despite pronounced central wear, where the pile has thinned into a luminous, weathered surface. Circa 1885 - 1900, it carries the balanced density and grounded palette associated with classic Mallayer weaving, with enough abrasion to temper the pattern into a quieter, more textural expression. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
