This Mallayer antique rug measures 8' 7" x 19' 4", with an elongated composition that feels quietly architectural. A faded blue field is softened by cream, white, and neutral tones, while rust-red borders hold the perimeter with restrained detail. The design resolves into a washed central diamond and faint corner spandrels, now mellowed by heavy wear and time. Circa 1880 - 1900, the surface reads with an especially atmospheric patina, where abrasion, fading, and tonal shifts have softened the original pattern into something calm and layered.
