This Mallayer antique rug measures 3' 3" x 15' 11" and carries a long, restrained presence softened by age. The field shows faded medallion-like ornament and delicate floral geometry, while the borders retain a rhythmic star motif in brown, rust, cream, and muted red. Much of the centre has worn to a pale, weathered plane, giving the composition a quiet, layered depth. Circa 1900 - 1915, it reflects the balance of pattern and patina that defines a well-lived antique rug, with visible distress that feels integrated rather than accidental. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
