This Mallayer antique rug measures 5' 3" x 11' 6" and carries a timeworn, understated presence in neutral brown, cream, white, and muted olive. The field is densely worked with softened geometric and floral motifs, layered beneath a washed surface that lets the older pattern breathe through. A framed border of rosettes and angular bands gives the composition structure without interrupting its patina. Circa 1940 - 1965, the rug’s medium wear reads as graceful fading, with abrash and age mellowing the palette into a quiet, balanced register. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
