This Mallayer antique rug measures 3' 6" x 15' 9" and carries a long, narrow format with a softly weathered presence. The composition is anchored by a deep teal field, worked with repeating geometric floral medallions and lattice-like ornament that reads with quiet rhythm from end to end. Layered borders in rust, brown, ivory, and muted gold create a framed, timeworn edge. Circa 1880 - 1895, the surface shows visible fading and worn character that lend depth without losing the clarity of the drawing. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
