This Mallayer antique rug measures 3' 2" x 13' 6", with a long, narrow format and a softly worn surface that lends depth to its restrained palette. Layered geometric medallions run through the field, framed by stepped outlines and a finely drawn border of angular vine and hatch-like motifs. Cream, brown, and muted charcoal tones sit against one another with an aged, quietly balanced rhythm. The medium distress is visible across the center, where fading and wear have mellowed the pattern without diminishing its structure. Circa 1900 - 1915, it carries the grounded presence of a well-aged antique rug.
