This Mallayer antique rug, measuring 10' 5" x 19' 3", presents a softly aged field of floral geometry in cream, taupe, muted sage, and pale blue. The composition is layered and dense, with a narrow border framing the long central field and letting the worn drawing drift in and out of focus. Its medium distress gives the surface a timeworn glow, with fading and abrasion that soften the darker notes. Circa 1900 - 1920, it carries the quiet patina and visual depth that define a well-lived Mallayer. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
