This Mallayer antique rug, 6' 7" x 9' 11", shows a softly worn field of floral forms and medallion-like blossoms set within layered borders. The palette has faded into teal, rust, brown, cream, and soft blue, giving the composition a calm, time-softened presence. Areas of abrasion and washed pile lighten the centre while the border remains more clearly defined, adding depth and contrast. Circa 1920 - 1935, it carries the quiet richness and painterly irregularity that make antique Mallayer weaving so compelling. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
