This Mallayer antique rug measures 6' 9" x 16' 2" and presents a long, restrained field animated by a vertical chain of medallion forms and floral infill. A cool faded blue ground is layered with coral, ivory, taupe, and rust, while the borders hold their geometry in a quieter register. The worn surface softens the drawing, allowing the composition to read like a textile palimpsest, full of atmosphere and age. Circa 1900 - 1915, it carries the character of a well-lived piece with elegant abrasion and nuanced tonal variation. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
