This Mallayer antique rug measures 3' 2" x 15' 10" and carries a long, architectural presence softened by age. A repeating medallion chain runs through the centre, framed by angular floral motifs and a narrow geometric border that keeps the composition orderly and refined. The palette layers cream, ivory, beige, faded teal, and muted blue with deeper accents that still read through the wear. Circa 1885 - 1900, the surface shows medium distress, with broad fading and a gently worn hand that underscores its lived-in character. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
