This Mallayer antique rug measures 4' 7" x 12' 3" and carries a long, vertical composition softened by time. A cool field of faded blue and charcoal is surrounded by cream, brown, and muted rust borders, with layered geometric-floral motifs that move in horizontal bands from top to bottom. The surface shows medium distress, gentle fading, and a worn, atmospheric hand that gives the pattern depth without losing its structure. Circa 1880 - 1895, it reads as both restrained and richly detailed, with the kind of age that leaves the design quietly luminous.
