This Mallayer antique rug measures 3' 4" x 11' 8" and presents a long, restrained composition with a softly faded red field and a fine floral border in muted blue, brown, and ivory. The elongated center is quiet and timeworn, with a small diamond medallion that floats within the worn ground. Its surface shows medium distress, including visible fading and abrash-like variation that deepen the rug's character. Circa 1925 - 1940, it carries the grounded, layered atmosphere that defines a well-aged Mallayer. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
